ROBIN PICKENS DESIGN LAUNCHES NEW LINES AT SURTEX
Robin McCormick Pickens is proud to introduce her award-winning design sensibilities through her new lines at
Robin Pickens Design. Ms. Pickens will be debuting her lines available for licensing at SURTEX in New York
in May 2006.
At SURTEX, Pickens’ illustrational work will be represented in the lines of “Lady Audrey”, “Floral Fetish”,
and “My Little Bug”. Her abstract lines of “RetroRobin,” and “ContempoChristmas” reflect her graphic design
background while “Quilt Modern” shows age-old traditional patterns with a modern sensibility and fresh color
combinations. Suitable for stationery, home décor, print goods, and textiles, the lines are colorful, whimsical
and uniquely stylish. The lines are appropriate for men, women and children. To see the work available for
licensing, visit Robin Pickens Design at SURTEX booth 2432 in Hall E.
Believing good design can be applied to all facets of work and home environments, Pickens enhances home
décor and printed materials through her love of color, line illustration and classic modern design sensibilities.
From a mid-century modern retro feel to a whimsical illustrated children’s fantasy world, her work expresses
her unique design perspective. Her ability to develop consistent, likable characters in compelling colorful
compositions has made her illustration-based work stand out from the competition. Last year, Robin’s work was
selected for the Runner Up prize for modern style in illustration at the 2005 Society of Children’s Book Writers
and Illustrators annual conference.
Based in the Los Angeles area, Pickens recently worked as the Executive in Charge of Design and Graphics for
Telepictures Productions, a division of Time Warner. She has designed successful formats and graphics for
broadcast, including The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Extra, ElimiDATE, The Sharon Osbourne Show, and Change
of Heart, among many others. She most recently has been designing for E! Entertainment Network and the
Style Network. Following her original training with a BFA in Graphic Design from The University of
Michigan, Ms. Pickens has expanded her broadcast work by creating printed greeting card designs for Marcel
Schurman. Pickens has continued her education with classes in illustration at UCLA and textile and surface
design from Otis School of Art and Design.
