ABOUT:cHello Everyone!! A little info about me (Robin): After studying Graphic Design and Industrial Design in college, I landed in the corporate world of broadcast design. I worked on designing and animating graphics for tv shows and managing and art directing others. After numerous years in that world, I decided to pursue work that was more personal and artistic through illustration, textile and surface design and to do it from my own studio. This has been my next chapter and is a conscious decision to follow my artistic vision, as well as have a life where I here more for my family. I hope sharing my journey can help others also listen to their heart and find their place of creativity. I love to make inspiring and beautiful images that can enhance your life. I've been creating artwork for the Seize the Day line of calendars with Sellers Publishing since 2011. The daily calendar provides a new quote or inspiration every day and is a great reminder of thinking positively! Being creative can also be an experience for the whole family. My parents were both artistic and encouraged our talents. My mother did silk screening and painting and sewing and started the tradition of quilting within our family. My sister is also a quilter. I have a wonderful time creating fabric designs for spoonflower.com and making things. In 2015 I was fortunate to win the Fabric8 competition on spoonflower, allowing me to work with Moda Fabrics. That has opened up a new world of exploring not just pattern design for fabric but also of designing quilts and quilt patterns. I had no idea I would enjoy that part of the process so much! My sewing machine is humming and my studio is filled with the joy of making. Quilts feel deeply rooted in family tradition because of my mother's and sister's involvement. My daughter loves the joy of handmade crafts as well and I am proud to pass the tradition on with her. It is a time for bonding and enjoying each other's company. I hope to pass on the joy of these activities to you by providing patterns, designs, color, ideas, and inspiration. My heart blooms with color and I hope you will also enjoy my designs as part of your own creative journey. I love to see images of things you make with my fabrics and patterns so let me know if you post pictures and share. Please check out my shops and join the newsletter so I can keep you informed when the new fun stuff comes out! My patterns are available at many local quilt shops and you can also check out RobinPickensINC.com for patterns and fabrics and related designs. VIRTUAL LECTURESFor Shops and Guilds interested in lectures, trunk shows and workshops, I am taking a break from travel and teaching workshops.
The preparation time for classes as well as travel time has made it difficult to meet some of my deadlines. Therefore I'm not scheduling new travel and teaching for 2023 or 2024 (and my brain is not going to 2025 yet). I will still do some ZOOM LECTURES on “My Journey Into Fabric and Quilt Design”. This talk includes how I got into fabric and quilt design. I share my journey starting with growing up in a creative family and being a designer and Art Director in television graphics. I've created artwork for giftware, calendars and more. Along the way, I found my greatest joy with designing fabrics and quilts. Trunk show includes images/photos of quilts made with my various Moda fabric lines and assorted samplers. (1 hour lecture with Powerpoint Slide presentation.) To enquire about a ZOOM LECTURE, please email [email protected] FAQS AND COMMON QUESTIONSI like your art on the website and photographs on your posts. Can I use those on my site or for my company image/logo?
My art and designs are all copyright Robin Pickens and can not be used without my permission. If you want to share a post, you need to give attribution to my site and maintain copyright marks that may be on images. I make a living by selling and licensing my art and ask that you respect the copyright laws. My designs can not be used as your company image or logo. What is your angel policy? When you buy my designs on products and supplies, it is fine to use the designs for your personal use and for limited handmade items you might sell. You can not mass produce products with my art on them or resell items with the design as your own. You can not use my designs on print-on-demand sites like zazzle, spoonflower, cafepress, etc, (unless you are purchasing them on an item from my storefront) because that would be in violation of copyright laws. Please give attribution to Robin Pickens for my designs if you post images online of your handmade items utilizing my designs or other Robin Pickens products or on links to my blog or website photos. I'm interested in licensing my art. Where can I learn more about how to get started? Following work you love with your art can be a very personally rewarding experience. However it's important to know that pursuing art licensing takes a significant amount of time to build up a portfolio of licensable work, make contacts and connections, develop products and get actual designs out into the marketplace. A good place to check out resources about licensing your art is http://artlicensinginfo.com and http://artlicensingblog.com I want to buy some of the products I see on your website and blog. Where do I find your products? Thank you for your interest and support! Print on demand sites with Robin's work are also listed/linked at the shop. Often books and calendars are available in Barnes and Noble, Michaels, JoAnn's, along with other retailers. We do not always have the information as to retailer placement from the manufacturers we work with. For dishware that is no longer produced a good website to check is www.replacements.com and search under "Robin Pickens". For fabrics, the print on demand fabrics are at spoonflower.com/profiles/robinpickens and fabrics produced by Moda Fabrics is sold through independent Quilt Fabric shops. I do sell patterns and some fabrics and kits at robinpickensinc.com I'm interested in licensing some of your designs. Who do I talk to? Thank you for your interest! Please email me at [email protected] and I look forward to talking with you! Privacy PolicyI am SO happy to keep you updated on new designs and patterns and any freebies or tutorials, etc. One way I do that is through my newsletter. I respect your privacy just as I'd want mine respected and not abused. The following is all the legal info about privacy, which basically is that I collect email addresses to send my newsletter and I do look at analytics of where my interested customers are...and I am not selling or distributing your email address to other companies to use in ways other than what we've agreed to, mainly distributing my newsletter or if you want to link to one of my shops, fulfilling an order or providing some information to you. Its spelled out below in more detail.
You always have the right to unsubscribe and I'd hate to see you go but I also understand sometimes you just get too much email or your needs change. Let me know if you have questions!
